Maui has some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. Influential publications have been raving about our expertly designed and meticulously maintained courses for years. Sweeping ocean views (every one playing on Maui should have a higher handicap due to this distraction, don’t you agree?), trade winds that can definitely affect the way a golf ball glides through the air, and gorgeous flora and fauna (don’t forget to bring mosquito repellent and stop to smell the roses…, excuse me, plumeria) are all part of a very unique golfing experience. Well, a stray golf ball probably won’t hit you in the noggin’ but you can bet that the hot, damaging, and intense rays of the Maui sun will.
Even on a cool day, wear sunscreen with a high SPF and a comfortable hat or visor… Write yourself a note because it’s easy to forget if you have an early-bird tee time. And don’t forget your sunglasses…you’ll be miserable without them. It all may sound simple, but a bad sunburn and scorched eyes can leave you miserable for the rest of your trip!
SHE MADE ME LEAVE MY CLUBS AT HOME:
If you didn't bring your clubs along, don't worry and don't hold it against your leading lady (or man). Most courses provide good clubs and shoes for rent. If the course you're playing at doesn't have the type of club that you are most comfortable with, call around. Some shops will even deliver a set of rentals to you!

The Dunes at Maui Lani—This course is located in Central Maui so it's a good place to hit as soon as your plane lands. It's also good if you're traveling with your family as there are many sights and activities close by for them to enjoy while you're on the course.

Kapalua, The Bay—All three of the Kapalua Courses are award winning. Arnold Palmer and Francis Duane designed The Bay. It is covered with rolling fairways and generous greens.

Kapalua, The Plantation—Rated one of the best resort and island golf courses in the world and is home of the Mercedes Championship. Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw designed the course.

THE EARLY BIRDS GETS THE WORM:
Okay, so the early bird may get the worm, but when it comes to golf, the late sleeper usually gets a hefty discount. Call the course you're interested in and ask about “The Twilight Rate”. You'll usually be pleasantly surprised. Most courses offer up to fifty-percent off after 2 p.m. !
